Nokia to expand GSM/EDGE network for CTi Móvil

6 Oct 2005

Finnish equipment vendor Nokia and Argentinean mobile operator CTi Móvil, a wholly owned subsidiary of América Móvil, have signed a deal for the expansion of the cellco’s GSM/EDGE networks in Argentina. Under the terms of the deal, Nokia will increase network capacity to accommodate CTi Móvil’s anticipated high subscriber growth. In addition to GSM/EDGE radio technology, Nokia is supplying the latest 3GPP Release 4 MSC Server mobile softswitching technology. This is the first Release 4 MSC Server delivery to Argentina, and will prepare CTi Móvil’s network for the smooth migration to 3G technology. The expansions are to be implemented before end of 2005, and deliveries have already begun.
