DoCoMo to develop digital TV mobile phone

5 Oct 2005

NTT DoCoMo has revealed plans to develop a new 3G handset, the 3G FOMA P90iTV, which will be able to receive terrestrial digital broadcasting signals, enabling users to watch digital TV over their mobiles. Mobile digital broadcasting is expected to be launched commercially in April 2006 and DoCoMo hopes its new handset will coincide with this rollout.

In a separate story, DoCoMo and Mitsubishi Electric have jointly developed another new mobile model with two-screens (one on each side), and a touch panel for ease of use. The cellco will exhibit the model at the CEATEC JAPAN 2005 trade show later this month.
