Venezuelan mobile users are going crazy for texting and data downloads, with value added services (VAS) now accounting for between 10% and 12% of mobile revenues, according to the country’s new Chamber of Integrated Services (Cavesein). The new body, which was formed last September and collates data from all companies providing VAS to the mobile industry, says that text messaging, data downloads and premium rate calls were the main spurs for growth; Venezuela users now send an average 800 million to one billion text messages a month.
