Anatel proposed new mobile regs

4 Oct 2005

According to reports from news agency Agencia Estado, Brazilian regulator Anatel has proposed a series of new regulations for the wireless market: the proposals are open to public debate until 16 November. Under the proposed rules, post-paid customer invoices would be limited to amounts due for the preceding 90 days, with any consumer debt racked up prior to that being open to renegotiation with the operator. Also, in the case of non-paying customers, operators will only be able to restrict services after 30 days, rather than the current 15 days. The shalf-life of pre-paid cards would also be increased from 90 to 180 days.
