TeliaSonera pledges support for broadband goal

3 Oct 2005

TeliaSonera has agreed to cooperate with regulator PTS to provide broadband access to customers who do not already have a telephone line. The PTS had threatened the country’s dominant player with a SEK100 million fine if it failed to comply with a decision designed to make it easier for customers to sign up to broadband services. A ruling made earlier this year stipulated that TeliaSonera should also sign up broadband customers who do not have a fixed line; TeliaSonera later revealed it had not complied with the regulator’s decision, because of a lack of demand.
