3 Oct 2005

Norwegian telco Telenor is ready to exit the Czech and Slovak telecoms markets and has already started talks to with interested parties for its Nextra Czech Republic, Nextra Slovakia, Telenor Ceska Republika and Telenor Slovakia units. All four companies are to be sold at once and potential bidders are thought to include GTS Novera and Belgian-Dutch alternative operator Scarlet Telecom. Nextra offers internet access and communications services to Czech businesses and households, while Telenor is a leading provider of DSL services, which are offered to more than 800,000 potential clients over its own network infrastructure.
