AZCOM awards Huawei USD30 million deal

Wireless newcomer AZ Communications Company (AZCOM) has awarded Chinese equipment manufacturer Huawei Technologies a deal worth USD30 million for the supply of CDMA 1X based network. AZCOM was awarded Cambodia’s fifth wireless licence by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications earlier this year; it expects to launch in 2006. Cambodia had around a million wireless customers at the end of June, the bulk of whom live in the capital Phnom Penh.
