Regulator to unveil second national telecom operator in Q2 2006

A top official at the UAE’s national regulator, the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA), says that the country’s second telecom operator will launch operations in the local market in the second quarter of 2006. According to TRA director general and board member Mohamed Al Ghanem, the matter is now with the Supreme Committee and the name of the new operator will be announced before the end of the year.
