Saudi Arabia’s second largest mobile operator Mobily has selected leading WiMAX systems provider Aperto Networks to deploy PacketWave 2.5GHz broadband wireless equipment in the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Khubar, as well as in Dahran – the gateway city to Bahrain. Mobily, owned by Etisalat of UAE and private and public investors in Saudi Arabia, says it selected Aperto’s PacketWave system because of its IP functionality and spectrum efficiency. It hopes to use the platform to support VPNs and VLAN, and to deliver an expanded portfolio of services to the business community.
