Portugal Telecom (PT) is remaining tight-lipped over whether or not it intends to bid for a 35% stake in Tunisie Telecom’s forthcoming privatisation. Tunisia’s telecoms ministry has said that preliminary bids must be submitted by tomorrow, and that a shortlist will be drawn up on Wednesday. It is understood that the tender has attracted interest from several top European telcos including Telecom Italia, France Télécom and Vivendi Universal, although PT will not be drawn on its role in the USD1.7 billion auction.
