Columbus to install submarine cable in Jamaica/Dominican Republic

According to the Dominican Republic’s telecoms regulator Indotel, network operator Columbus Communications has revealed plans to install a fibre-optic submarine cable between Jamaica and the Dominican Republic to link around 17 nations in the Caribbean. Columbus is set to invest DOP1.2 billion (USD38.9 million) in the network, with work having already begun in Jamaica and set to start in the Dominican Republic within 30 days.
