Chávez pushes CANTV to resolve pensions problem

Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez has threatened to impose legal sanctions on the country’s dominant fixed line operator CANTV, unless it pays off USD300 million in debts it owes its former employees. In July CANTV was ordered to adjust the pensions of 3,408 union members to reflect the country’s new minimum wage.
