Optus to roll out broadband network

Fixed line operator Singtel Optus has revealed plans to invest over AUD150 million (USD114.16 million) to install its own broadband network in Australia. The telco plans to install its own digital subscriber line access multiplexers (DSLAM) in 340 exchanges, and hopes the new network will reach an additional 2.9 million households and businesses across the country. Optus expects to have rolled out 100 exchanges by April 2006.
