Iceland will soon have more mobile phones than people

According to Statistics Iceland, the number of cell phones, including long range NMT phones, has reached 293,564 – just 13 shy of the country’s official total population of 293,577 as at 1 December 2004. The group reports that Iceland is home to 273,000 are GSM cell phones and 20,564 long range NMT-cell phones.
