23 Sep 2005

Caribbean mobile operator Digicel plans to invest USD190 million in its telecoms operations in Trinidad & Tobago over the next year, and has retained its exclusive network partner Ericsson to supply additional infrastructure equipment for the project. Digicel says the upgrade will enable it to offer customers on the twin-island republic, enhanced network quality, consistent connectivity and access to a broad range of services including international roaming and mobile internet (GPRS). Ericsson has been Digicel’s preferred vendor since its flagship launch in Jamaica in 2001 and has overseen its service launches St Lucia, St Vincent & The Grenadines, Grenada, Aruba, Barbados and The Cayman Islands.
