TEM Mexico selects Nortel’s packet voice backbone network

22 Sep 2005

Telefónica Móviles Mexico (TEM Mexico), part of the Telefónica Móviles group, has deployed a packet voice backbone network from Nortel Networks to boost network capacity and support the future delivery of new advanced mobile data services. TEM Mexico is using Nortel’s Communication Server (CS) 2000, Multiservice Switch (MSS) 7400 series and Media Gateway (MG) 15000 to converge traffic and increase network capacity. It hopes the decision to move all of its national and international voice and data traffic onto a single multi-service platform will significantly reduce the cost of ‘backhauling’ voice and data traffic from base stations to switching centres
