Partner picks a second UMTS/HSDPA supplier in Ericsson

Israeli mobile operator Partner Communications Company has selected Ericsson as the second equipment supplier for its 3G UMTS/HSDPA network rollout. Partner is a subsidiary of Hutchison Telecommunications International Limited and a leading Israeli network operator providing 2G and 3G services under the Orange™ brand. It launched commercial operations in January 1999 and had 2.409 million subscribers by 30 June 2005. Partner launched its 3G service in December 2004 with coverage of 92% of the population, having signed a USD93 million frame agreement with Nortel in November 2003 for the rollout of a W-CDMA network.
