Operators’ opinions split over MNP

22 Sep 2005

Indian CDMA operator Reliance Infocomm has voiced its objection to the introduction of mobile number portability (MNP), scheduled to be implemented next year. Reliance is one of 19 companies to register their opinions on a consultation paper issued by the regulator, the TRAI. Fellow operators MTNL and BPL have also objected to the TRAI’s proposed MNP timeframe, whilst GSM market leader Bharti Tele-Ventures has backed the regulator’s plans.
