Argentine wireless broadband operator Ertach, formerly Millicom, has won 70% of an ARS78 million (USD26.7 million) government contract to interconnect 100 municipalities in the Buenos Aires area, according to BNamericas. Ertach, in an alliance with ISP Prima, will carry out the work alongside fixed line operator Telecom Argentina, which won the remaining 30% of the tender. Ertach says it will be deploying WiMAX technology to finish the rollout by mid-2006. The company has already been heavily engaged in WiMAX rollouts this year, and before winning the new state tender it announced a target of 10,000 WiMAX customers by the end of the year.
