The likelihood of TelstraClear rolling out a 3G network in New Zealand has been estimated at about 7:1 against by financial services company Citigroup, in the wake of a decision by Telstra supremo Sol Trujillo to scale back capital expenditure and implement a hiring freeze. Industry watchers agree that the move has most likely put paid to TelstraClear’s plans to make the long-touted investment in its own mobile network in the country.
