14 Sep 2005

According to reports in local newspaper Estado de Sao Paulo, Brazilian telecoms regulator Anatel plans to introduce new legislation this year, in a bid to strengthen the rights of the country’s pre-paid mobile users. Anatel plans to extend the value of credit for pre-paid phones from 90 days to six months, meaning that if customers change operators, they will have the right to compensation for any remaining credit. The rules will be made available for public consultation between 15 September and 21 November.
