India’s Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) have signed a deal to lay a USD3 million submarine cable connecting their two countries. The fibre-optic link will be established between India’s Tuticorine coast and Mount Lavinia, just south of Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo. The two telcos said that the cable will be operational by the second quarter of 2006.
