Police investigate Cyta/regulator dispute

12 Sep 2005

The Attorney General of Cyprus, Petros Clerides, has asked the country’s police force to establish whether or not telco Cyta has committed a criminal offence by refusing to hike its mobile phone rates under a temporary ruling issued by the regulator, the Competition Commission, earlier this year. The government believes that Cyta violated article 137 of the criminal penal code by ignoring the order. The police have not yet revealed their findings.
