Uralsvyazinform contracts Alcatel for triple-play broadband

Uralsvyazinform, one of the seven Russian ‘mega-regional’ operators controlled by state holding company Svyazinvest, has contracted French vendor Alcatel for the deployment of a broadband access solution in the Ural region. Alcatel will provide an end-to-end solution enabling Uralsviazinform to offer high speed internet connectivity in the Sverdlovsk, Tumen, Kurgan regions and Yamalo-Nenetsky autonomous area, as well as triple-play voice, data and video services. Alcatel will also provide comprehensive business consultancy services. The network is scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter of 2005.
