Malaysian telco Nasioncom is planning to launch a consumer voice over IP (VoIP) telephony service by the end of next month, according to its managing director Datuk Chee Kok Wing. The company is currently in the process of testing new equipment for the residential broadband-based service. Chee declined to reveal a pricing plan for the VoIP package, as the exact details were still being thrashed out. Once launched, Nasioncom is hoping to tempt a large percentage of Malaysia’s 600,000 broadband users away from traditional telephony services.
