Mobile operator Claro has teamed up with local bank Unibanco to launch two new credit card services. The companies plan to launch the Claro Mastercard, mainly aimed at prepaid customers, and the Claro Clube Unicard Mastercard, for higher income customers. Claro currently claims around 14 million mobile customers in Brazil; it hopes to end 2005 with 19.2 million.

In a separate story, electronics maker Gradiente has invested BRL3 million (USD1.2 million) to launch a new MP3 phone – branded Vibe – that downloads music from the internet. The company said it will manufacture 100,000 handsets with MP3 functions by the end of 2005.
