Mobile subs pass three million mark

The telecoms market in the Dominican Republic generated DOP19.3 billion (USD663 million) in revenues in the first seven months of 2005, according to local newspaper Listin Diario and BNamericas. The report claims that mobile subscribers reached 3.1 million at the end of June 2005, up 22.6% year-on-year, whilst residential phone lines grew 1.3% to 632,062 and the number of public phones remained relatively stable at 264,830.
