International assets boost OTE results

Strong returns by its Romanian subsidiary Romtelecom allowed Greek telco OTE to report better than expected results yesterday. Net profit for the second quarter of 2005 rose 165% to EUR119.1 million while EBITDA increased by 10.6% to EUR498.9 million. Sales climbed 4.5% to EUR1.36 billion; fixed line revenues from its domestic operations declined by 3.6% to EUR681.4 million while its Greek wireless arm Cosmote recorded a 4.1% rise in revenues to EUR410.9 million.
