Chunghwa Telecom has posted a 1.3% decline in revenues for the first half of 2005, despite a 3.6% increase in the second quarter. Revenues for the six months to the end of June were TWD90.7 billion (USD2.77 billion), whilst net income stood at TWD24.9 billion. Fixed line services contributed 36.8% of revenues, 39.3% came from wireless operations and 22.5% was attributable to internet and data services. Chunghwa ended June with 3.96 million internet users, including 3.36 million broadband subscribers, and reported a steady 8.1 million mobile customers. Last month the Taiwan government sold a 14% stake in the company through an offering of American Depositary Receipts worth USD2.56 billion, reducing the Ministry of Transportation and Communication’s shareholding in Chunghwa to 48%.
