Indosat 1H profit up 16%

Indonesian operator PT Indosat has reported a profit of INR5.88 trillion (USD563 million) for the first half of 2005, up 16% on the same period of 2004. Mobile services contributed INR4.4 trillion to sales, while its fixed line business accounted for INR660.31 billion. The remainder came from multimedia, data communications and internet (MIDI). The operator suffered INR357 billion (USD34.3 million) worth of foreign exchange losses for the period, however, due to its weakening rupiah, and expects to see more losses for the full year.
