REDtone considers 3G licence bid

26 Aug 2005

Malaysian discount telco REDtone International may bid for a 3G licence, its managing director Wei Chuan Beng said yesterday. REDtone is the first company to indicate an interest since the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) began a second round of tenders for 3G concessions. Telekom Malaysia subsidiary Celcom and rival Maxis Mobile both launched 3G services earlier this year after winning licences in 2002.

Malaysia, REDtone
