Telefónica buys into rival

Spain’s dominant telco Telefónica has agreed a deal to take a “significant” stake in the broadband wireless operator Iberbanda. According to a report from Dow Jones, the operators are waiting for regulatory approval before releasing full details of the agreement. Iberbanda’s LMDS fixed wireless networks provide broadband internet services in remote areas which are not covered by Telefónica’s ADSL systems.
