PTA to have regular hearings on complaints

22 Aug 2005

Pakistan’s telecoms regulator, the PTA, has announced plans to hold regular hearings on complaints from ISPs against state-owned telco Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) and its internet arm Paknet. The ISPs have complained that the sister companies have been using anti-competitive and discriminatory practices, with PTCL offering special rates to Paknet for internet bandwidth and other services, meaning that it can pass the savings onto its customers.
