In just eleven months Brasil Telecom GSM has signed up 1.5 million subscribers. Brasil Telecom’s mobile network now covers over 770 locations across the country, representing 85% of the territory. It hopes to have attracted 2.1 million customers by the end of 2005, up from its earlier estimate of 1.7 million. The cellco competes against Vivo, Claro and TIM, amongst others.
In a separate, and not as positive, story, Brasil Telecom GSM and fixed line operator Vesper generated more customer complaints during July than any of their rivals, according to regulator Anatel.
