Ofcom sets wholesale price cap

18 Aug 2005

UK regulator Ofcom has introduced limits on prices for some wholesale telecoms products offered by dominant teleco BT Group Plc, saying the move would cut customer costs over the next four years. ‘Ofcom estimates that these controls on BT’s wholesale network charges, when combined with effective retail competition, could potentially reduce telecommunications costs for UK businesses and consumers by around GBP350-400 million (USD633-723 million),’ it said in a statement.
