Government to put services up for tender

According to local newspaper La Prensa, the Panamanian government has revealed plans to outsource all its telephony services, and put out a tender to attract a new telephony operator. Cable & Wireless is currently offering this service, but the government hopes that a new operator will reduce costs by USD8 million – USD10 million. The deadline for the tender has been set at 14 September, with bidding rules and conditions for the tender being made available on 23 August.
