Brazilian regulator Anatel has authorized Norwegian satellite company Telenor Satellite Services (TSS) to offer satellite services in Brazil. The company will launch via its Inmarsat unit and has established an office in Rio de Janeiro.
In a separate story The Brazilian unit of US-based UTStarcom has signed an agreement with Brazilian IT firm Mude, to create a platform over which local telcos will be able to launch triple play services. The platform will enable solutions such as high-speed data, VoIP and IPTV. UTStarcom said it has shipped more than 75,000 IP-SDLAM ports, more than half of which have already been deployed.
