Tele2 hints at selling Comviq

11 Aug 2005

Tele2’s chief executive officer Lars-Johan Jarnheimer says he would be willing to sell the group’s mobile operation Comviq if someone offered SEK20 billion (USD2.65 billion) for the business. In an interview with local newspaper Dagens Industri, Jarnheimer said he saw the issue as ‘a question of price’, adding that there is no strategic necessity for the company to have a mobile operation in Sweden. According to Dagens Industri, Tele2 has already held discussions with Telenor over a possible Comviq deal, but as yet no agreement has been made over price.
