Swisscom posts higher net income on falling revenues

10 Aug 2005

Switzerland’s dominant operator Swisscom reported today that its net profit for the first half of this year rose 47.4% year-on-year to CHF1.116 billion (EUR716.44 million), beating analyst’s forecasts. Its total revenues for the period were CHF4.912 billion (EUR3.153 billion), down by 1.7% due to increased competition in the fixed line and mobile sectors, but still higher than expectations. Swisscom expects turnover for the year to reach CHF9.6 billion (EUR6.163 billion).
