Telecom Slovenia to be privatised

9 Aug 2005

The Slovenian government has announced plans to sell a quarter of its 62.5% stake in national telecoms company Telecom Slovenia. The state’s holding is estimated to be worth SIT264 billion, meaning it could raise around SIT66 billion from the sale, which would be used to repay individuals and communities who invested in the public telecoms network before 1989, and public debt. According to the Ministry of Economy, the state plans to finalise the sale in 2006, and repay investors the following year.
