Zambian electricity group ZESCO has revealed that it is planning to construct a new power network which will also improve the country’s telephone coverage. ZESCO says the new cable run will incorporate a fibre-optic network which will be used by telcos such as mobile operators Celtel and Telecel/MTN and ISPs like Zamnet and Coppernet. According to a report from the Lusaka Post, the utilities group says the new network will also increase international phone links with neighbouring countries Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
