NTC tells telcos that ‘fees are fair’

1 Aug 2005

Thailand’s National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has responded to operators’ complaints that the proposed licence fee of between 3% and 5% of annual revenues is too high by claiming that the fee is within the realm of usual international practice. NTC’s chairman went on to say that the fee structure would be fair, with the 3% figure being collected from Type 2 licensees (operators with their own network, but only offering closed user group services) and 5% from Type 3 (all other network operators).
