Bharti boosts profits with record customer additions

India’s GSM market leader Bharti Tele-Ventures has posted a healthy 72.3% rise in net profits to INR5.1 billion (USD118 million) for the quarter ended 30 June 2005, due largely to an unprecedented 1.35 million increase in its mobile subscriber base; its end-June wireless total was 12.3 million. Revenues for the three months grew 48% to INR25.17 billion. The company’s monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) declined from INR504 to INR493.
