Three suitors line up for Smartcom

Spanish power utility Endesa has received three bids for its Chilean mobile subsidiary Smartcom, according to BNamericas. Offers have come in from Mexican telco Telmex, Chilean cable operator VTR and US-owned digital trunking group Nextel. Endesa has valued Smartcom at nearly USD800 million, although industry analysts have estimated its value somewhat lower; VTR’s bid is reported to be worth around USD400 million.
