Philippines need USD27 million to connect schools

The Filipino government has revealed that it needs around PHP1.5 billion (USD27 million) to connect the country’s 5,443 public high schools to the internet. It is currently embarking on an internet connectivity project, termed GILAS (Gearing up internet literacy and access for students), in which several operators – including Globe Telecom, PLDT and Smart – are involved.
