Norwegian telco Telenor has reported a 9% year-on-year increase in second-quarter revenues to NOK16.54 billion, with pre-tax profits up 11% to NOK3.32 billion. EBITDA fell slightly from NOK5.70 billion to NOK5.63 billion, with this attributed to Telenor’s launch in Pakistan and competition in mobile markets. While the company’s mobile operations performed well during the quarter, with revenues up 17.8% to NOK9.60 billion, sales at the fixed line division were down 2.5% to NOK4.75 billion. Revenues from the Broadcast division rose 4.9% to NOK1.40 billion.
The company’s CEO commented: “In addition to strong customer and revenue growth, it is worth noting that the market shares of all our mobile operations have increased or remained stable.” The company’s consolidated mobile operations achieved record customer growth over the three months to the end of June, adding 3.4 million users to end the period with 24.8 million customers. Cellular subscriber numbers at all companies in which Telenor has an interest reached 67.1 million.
