Fixed line charges could fall

22 Jul 2005

According to Brazil’s minister of communications Helio Costa, the basic monthly charge for residential fixed line telephony could fall by as much as 15% as the result of a new pricing scheme based on changing billing from pulses to minutes, which he plans to introduce to operators today. The charge currently stands at BRL40 (USD16.90). Costa said he expects the fixed line operators to fight to keep the charge as it is.
