Fixed and mobile operator Brasil Telecom has reported a year-on-year increase of 35% in net income for the second quarter of 2005 to BRL69 million (USD29.4 million). Net profit increased 22% to BRL100 million, while revenues stood at BRL2.52 billion, an increase of 16.7% in twelve months. At the end of the quarter the company claimed 747,400 broadband users; it expects to have signed up one million customers by the end of the year. Brasil Telecom GSM signed up 1.3 million customers in the quarter, less than the 1.4 million expected, but up 34% on the previous quarter. It hopes to have 2.1 million mobile customers by the end of 2005.
