TeliaSonera keen to up Latvian holdings

20 Jul 2005

TeliaSonera is reportedly keen to acquire the Latvian government’s holdings in Lattelekom and LMT, valuing the majority stakes at EUR274 million and EUR168 million respectively. TeliaSonera already owns 49% stakes in both operators, but has long made clear its desire to increase its presence not only in Latvia but across the Baltic region. Instead of entering directly into discussion with the Scandinavians, the Riga administration has set up a working group to examine the issue.
