Telefonica wins multi-service network contract

The Sao Paulo government has awarded Brazilian fixed line telco Telefonica a five year contract to extend a multi-service communications network in the region. Under the terms of the deal, which is worth around BRL329 million (USD140 million), Telefonica will expand the network from 7,000 access points to 18,000, and install new internet protocol security technology. The deal is part of the Intragov e-government project and will be officially signed on 6 August.
